Polling in Hindol brisk, peaceful

Hindol NAC witnessed peaceful polling on Tuesday in all the 16 wards amid elaborate security arrangements.

DHENKANAL: Hindol NAC witnessed peaceful polling on Tuesday in all the 16 wards amid elaborate security arrangements. The polling was conducted under the direct supervision of Collector and District Magistrate Nikhil Pawan Kalyan and SP Santosh Nayak in Hindol NAC.

Polling touched 85.7 per cent mark despite geographical remoteness and local disadvantages in different wards. Large participation of voters was unprecedented, according to political parties and the locals. Though the wards are a distance of 5 km to 8 km away from NAC headquarters, voters came to the polling centres in large numbers to exercise their franchise.

The district administration deployed four platoons of police personnel. Additional police force were put in place to make the polling incident-free. District BJD president and Transport and Commerce Minister Nrushing Sahoo predicted that 13 to 14 BJD candidates will come out victorious. He said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s thrust on development works and welfare measures will have an impact on the poll.
