JAIPUR: A youth was arrested for allegedly passing lewd remarks at a college-going girl who was on her way home on a cycle near Dihakuransh village under Kuakhia police station limits in the district on Thursday, police said.The accused has been identified as Balaram Rout (26) of Dihakuransh village. He was arrested after the victim’s father filed a complaint against the accused with the local police on Wednesday. The accused was forwarded to local court on Thursday and later remanded in jail custody after his bail plea was rejected.
The FIR filed by the father of the victim stated that his daughter studies second-year in Plus-Three Arts at Dharmasala College and goes to college from their native Garual village on cycle every day. Rout often passed lewd remarks at his daughter.“On Wednesday, while my daughter was going to college on her cycle, Rout passed lewd comments at her.
He made lewd remarks at her again while she was returning home,” said victim’s father in his complaint. The girl narrated the incident to her family members.“Acting on the complaint, we registered a case under Section 509 of IPC and started an investigation,” said Asish Kumar Sahoo, inspector-in-charge of Kuakhia police station. Police arrested the accused from his village.
