BHUBANESWAR: At least 31 objectionable videos have been made viral on social media in Odisha in the last three months, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told the Assembly on Monday. The Chief Minister in a written reply to a question from Bhujabal Majhi (Cong) said 124 cases of cyber crime have been registered in different police stations during this period and 19 people have been arrested in connection so far.

The Odisha Police has recently issued an advisory to generate awareness on the safe use of internet among people, especially youth. An obscene video clip featuring a reality television show winner went viral on social media earlier this month. The incidents sent shockwaves across the State, but the police said no complaint has been lodged in the matter by the woman or her family members.
