Odisha athletes bag eight medals in Khelo India National Games for intellectual disability

BHUBANESHWAR: A 12-member contingent of athletes from Odisha bagged eight medals including two gold, three silver and three bronze in the Khelo India National Games for intellectual disability , which concluded at Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat on Monday.

Pravat Baral and Trilochan Pradhan both of Puri district bagged a gold medal each in the badminton singles and 200 metre race for men respectively. Anupama Behera and Jogendra Chhatria of Balangir district won silver medal each in the 200 metre women and men events respectively. The Bocce senior team bagged another silver medal for the State in the mixed category.

The bronze medals were received by Trilochan Pradhan Anupama Behera and Dharmendra Samal in the 100 metre men, women and 200 metre men categories respectively. These athletes with intellectual disability of Odisha were selected for the Khelo National Games on the basis of their performance in the State Games for PwDs conducted by Special Olympics Bharat-Odisha.
