ROURKELA: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), with its multi-pronged strategy, is looking to woo the masses in rural and urban areas across the tribal-dominated Sundargarh district. The BJD sources said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s ‘Ama Gaon, Ama Vikas’ programme has covered almost all 17 blocks of the district with projects worth `70 crore proposed for rural areas across the district.

Sundargarh district BJD working president and Rourkela Development Authority Chairman Sarada Prasad Nayak said the State Government, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, is working for the all-round development of Odisha. He said the regional party’s words match its actions and its popularity continues to grow among the masses.

On the other hand, Sundargarh Special Development Council (SDC), led by the ruling party’s district president Santosh Amat, has initiated efforts to protect sacred shrines/groves, promote and protect tribal culture, sports and heritage, build capacity of tribal groups, promote traditional agricultural system and ensure forest rights of the tribals. He said positive changes in the lives of the masses will bring them closer to the BJD. The party’s youth wing, Biju Yuva Vahini, is also working on similar lines.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Odisha unit secretary Dhiren Senapati claimed that the BJD is following the organisational outreach strategy of the saffron party. He said BJD’s several programmes are inspired by the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stay connected with the masses. He said BJP’s popularity has witnessed a spike in the district.
