Odisha's SCB Medical College to tackle lightning strikes

After a detailed discussion on different technical aspects with the line departmental officials, authorities of SCBMCH decided to improve the quality of different electrical systems.

CUTTACK: After Monday’s lighting strike in the casualty ward of SCB Medical College and Hospital here, the authorities of SCB Medical College and Hospital on Thursday called a high level meeting to put measures in place to avert such mishaps in the future. The meeting was attended by officials of all line departments including, Central Electric Supply Utility, Public Works Department and Public Health Engineer Organisation.

After a detailed discussion on different technical aspects with the line departmental officials, authorities of SCBMCH decided to improve the quality of different electrical systems and put more precautionary measures to avert such type of mishap in the future.

It was decided to install lighting sensors atop buildings on SCBMCH premises, high voltage breakers to save electrical equipments and accessories thereby diverting excess current through earthing, said SCBMCH Superintendent Prof. Prasanna Kumar Debata.
