JHARSUGUDA: An action plan has been prepared to make Jharsuguda a Tuberculosis-free district.
The modalities of the plan were discussed  at a meeting organised by the district administration under the chairmanship of Collector Bibhuti Bhusan Patnaik and attended by coal mine officials and industrialists. 

The speakers highlighted the hazards of the disease and ways to prevent it. The speakers said lack of awareness on the disease and also lack of proper implementation of preventive measures are responsible for the spread of TB in the industrial areas of the district.

As per the action plan, the management of coal mines was advised to take all precautions in the workers’ residential areas. It also envisages proper treatment of those afflicted by the disease along with practical approach towards its prevention. State Health (TB Control) Additional Director Dr Susant Swain, Dr Prasant Hota,  TB Reach State Coordinator Dr Debjyoti, Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Dr Manas Ranjan Samantaray, ADMO Dr Dolamani Patel,  Head of TB Department Dr Radharaman Birtia and Dr Suprava Barik attended the meeting along with delegates from major industrial houses like MCL, OPGC, Vedanta, TRL Krosaki and others.
