CUTTACK: An unidentified miscreant hurled egg at former minister and Paradip MLA Damodar Rout during a public meeting on the premises of Niali High School field here on Thursday evening.Though the egg did not hit any of the guests on stage, the miscreant managed to flee from the spot before police could apprehend him.

Dama, however, denied the egg attack and said there is no threat to his life. The Paradip MLA, who attended the ‘Jan Samavesh’ organised by Niali Surakshya Manch on role of Right to Information Act against corrupt administration as the chief guest, also faced protest from Anganwadi workers.
More than 150 Anganwadi workers holding placards took out a silent march near the meeting venue. However, police personnel deployed at the place brought the situation under control by cordoning off the meeting spot.

Niali block CDPO Pushpanjali Mishra said the Anganwadi workers had come to her office to attend Mamata Sabha. “I don’t know what they did after returning from the meeting,” she said.Addressing the gathering, Dama highlighted various scams and corrupt practices of the BJD Government. “Biju Janata Dal has turned into Loot Dal and Naveen is its captain,” he said.  Among others, Congress leader Satyaprakash Nayak and senior journalist Rabi Das were present. Thousands of people attended the event.
