No trace of girl who fell into power channel in Odisha

SAMBALPUR: A 22-year-old girl, who went missing in the power channel of Hirakud dam on Tuesday evening, remains untraced even after more than 24 hours. The girl has been identified as Nisha Jha from Jharsuguda. According to police, Nisha, who recently completed BBA, had come to meet her sister in Sambalpur. However, she had gone to the power channel at Athar Hazar with a male friend from Sambalpur, on Tuesday evening when she slipped into the water and was washed away in the strong water current.

After the police and fire brigade were informed, a search operation was launched but she has could not be traced till Wednesday evening. Burla IIC Susanta Das said, “The search operation was started early on Wednesday morning and continued beyond 7.30 pm. But we had to stop due to darkness. We will again resume the operation on Thursday morning. We have not got any trace during the operation so far.”
