Three held for loan fraud in Odisha

During the course of investigation, Sahoo was apprehended and during interrogation he confessed to have conspired with Choudhury,  Jena and Maharana for granting the loans.

CUTTACK: Madhupatna police on Wednesday arrested three persons including an employee of Bajaj Finance Limited for granting loans in the names of people without their knowledge. Of the accused, Binod Kumar Sahoo is an employee of the financial firm while, the others are proprietor of Arpita Enterprises Ankit Jena and owner of Papu Interior Design Limited Satya Narayan Maharana.

DCP Pinak Mishra said as per an FIR filed by Prabir Barik, a native of Iribina in Erasama police limits on May 5, Rashmi Ranjan Choudhury had committed forgery by using photocopies of his documents and fraudulently sanctioning two loans amounting to Rs 43,000 and Rs 56,000 without his knowledge from Bajaj Finance Limited.

During the course of investigation, Sahoo was apprehended and during interrogation he confessed to have conspired with Choudhury,  Jena and Maharana for granting the loans. The accused collected documents like Aadhaar card, copy of bank passbook and PAN card from people for issuing Bajaj Finance cards to them.

After collecting the documents, the accused obtained loans against their name without their knowledge by forging the same, said the DCP.  Further investigation revealed as many as 56 persons were targeted by the accused who embezzled loans amounting to Rs 12 lakh.While efforts are on to nab Choudhury, the trio was forwarded to the court and brought on three-day police remand for more gathering more information on the matter, informed Mishra.
