KENDRAPARA: History will be created in Odisha in 2024 with the BJP coming to power, said Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India, Nityanand Rai. He was talking to mediapersons here on Sunday after attending a closed-door meeting with local BJP leaders and workers.

The union government is aiming at eradicating poverty and providing housing for all the people, the minister said. “It is high time the people of Odisha elected the BJP government as Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government has failed in all fronts. A BJP government at the state and Centre works like a double engine and can improve the lives of the people of Odisha,” said Rai. Congress and BJD who were given ample time in Odisha to develop it have failed miserably, the union minister added.

However, he refused to say anything about the derailment of the hope of a ‘double engine’ government in Karnataka. The Modi government’s promotion of education in mother tongues as per the NEP and policy to directly transfer money to the bank accounts of beneficiaries have been highly appreciated and accepted, he cited.

The BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda, who was also present at the meeting, refused to say anything about the debacle of the saffron party in the Karnataka poll. Other party leaders were present in the meeting.
