BHUBANESWAR : A day after Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed BJP will form the next government in Odisha, the ruling BJD said the saffron party was daydreaming.

The Assam chief minister should be attending the swearing-in ceremony of Naveen Patnaik again, former finance minister Sashi Bhusan Behera told mediapersons here.

He said the statement of Assam chief minister was not based on reality. “It is good to give such statements to raise the morale of the state party leaders and workers, but reality should be taken into account,” he added.

Behera, however, said as Sarma is in an important position, should not make such statements. He said Sarma referred to the 38 per cent vote share of BJP in 2019 Assembly elections, but forgot about the vote share of different political parties in panchayat elections.

“The BJD’s vote share increased and its candidates became zilla parishad presidents in most districts. The BJP is only daydreaming,” he said.
