MADURAI: The CB-CID was directed by the Madurai Bench of the High Court on Thursday to file a report on the status of investigations into the case relating to the attack on the office of Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy in Madurai in October last.

Swamy had filed a plea before the Madras High Court stating that he had filed a complaint with the Tallakulam police but they were not investigating the case properly. In his plea he had also sought an inquiry by the CB-CID.

When he went to the Madras High Court to plead his case, some persons pelted eggs at him on February 19. Following this, the court transferred the case to the Madurai Bench for hearing and it came up before Justice M Akbar Ali on Thursday.

Swamy who appeared in person told the Bench that the attack on his office was preplanned and the police were aware of it. Therefore, they were reluctant to probe the case and he sought an inquiry by CB-CID.

The government pleader said the case had already been transferred to the CB-ACID and they were investigating it. The judge who intervened said that this had not been conveyed to the court. Swamy also said that even he had not been informed about it. The judge then directed the CB-CID to file its status report on June 22.
