PUDUCHERRY: The heat is likely to continue for a few more days in Chennai and Puducherry, according to Met office sources. The heat will prevail because of the delay in the setting of sea breeze, the sources said, adding that even though temperature may be lower, it will still be uncomfortably hot.

But on the upside, the southwest monsoon will likely be in Kerala on June 1.

“Strong flow of cross-equatorial winds in the southwest direction, rise in moisture conditions and cloudiness over Bay of Bengal region will help the monsoon’s advance,” the sources said.

Monsoon arrived in the Andaman Sea three days later than it normally does. It usually sets in on May 20, the souces said. They added that the monsoon is expected to move over Comorin area and the remaining parts of north Andaman Sea.
