A school teacher, currently in prison in connection with a criminal intimidation case, was on Friday sacked by the Department of Elementary Education for allegedly harassing students by using abusive language during class hours.
“P Sathia Prabhu of the Panchayat Union Middle School, Vadugapatti, was terminated from service on the charges of mentally harassing students,” said District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO) T Arulmozhidevi.
An inquiry, based on complaints from parents, conducted by the Assistant Elementary Education Officer (AEEO) and the Joint Director (JD) of Elementary Education, found the charges against the teacher to be true, the District Elementary Education Officer detailed.
Though the order to sack him was passed on August 17, it was served on him on August 22 at the Namakkal sub-jail.
