In yet another mid-sea attack, the Sri Lankan Navy allegedly chased some fishermen from Lankan waters, besides pelting stones at them, on Sunday.

The victims were part of the crew of the over 500 mechanised boats that ventured out for fishing on Saturday.

Mid-sea, the Lankan navy surrounded some the boats and pelted stones at them, N J Bose of the TamilNadu Coastal Mechanised Boats Fishermen Association said and added that the Lankan navy personnel then issued a stern warning to the fishermen against straying into their waters and chased them away. However, no injuries or major damage to the boats were reported in the incident. The fishermen were subsequently forced to return with poor catch. As of late on Sunday evening, a formal complaint was yet to be registered with the Fisheries Department.
