Raj Bhavan clarifies

Secretary to the Tamil Nadu Governor, Shambu Kollolikar, clarified on Monday that Raj Bhavan had not received any request from the authorities seeking a date from the Governor to present the Rajya Puraskar awards given to students by the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement.

Referring to a Pudukottai report, ‘Scouts Await State Awards’, in The New Indian Express, which stated that the awards ceremony has not been held since 2008 as the Governor’s date was not available, Kollolikar said  “There is no request whatsoever from any authorities mentioned in the newspaper.”

However, officials of the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement claimed that they had sent a note seeking appointment for the Governor to distribute the awards to the school education department.

“It is for the education department to initiate steps to get the Governor’s date for the function, the process for which is going on smoothly,” officials of the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement added.
