Over 200 employees of Tamil Nadu Explosives Limited on Monday began a fast unto death demanding payment of salary that has been pending for two months, on Monday.
The protestors at the TEL campus in Christianpet, near Katpadi, demanded that they be paid salary for October and November. They also demanded medical allowance for the year 2011-’12 and arrears of dearness allowance.
A total of 10 associations and trade unions participated in the fast. The fast was led by Malligesan, president of the joint committee that comprised all associations and trade unions.
