Residents of Sathuvachari here approached the ward councillors seeking demolition of over three-decade-old overhead water tanks, which were in a dilapidated state.
Residents said that the tank, built to supply water to housing board areas in Vallalar, had developed cracks five years ago. Ward 20 councillor Sasikumar said, “I stopped pumping water to the overhead tank one year ago as it was risky to load water into the damaged tank. A sump of the same capacity nearby is being utilised for water now.”
