PM's aid for acid attack victim

Minister of State for PMO V Narayanasamy on Sunday assured acid attack victim Vinothini of a substantial financial aid from the Prime Minister’s relief fund. The minister also told the 23-year-old engineer that he would talk to the Puducherry Governor and CM to get her a job.

After meeting Vinothini on Sunday at a private hospital where she is to undergo plastic surgery, he said: “It is a heinous crime perpetrated on the girl. She is confident and narrated the incident to me.” Narayanasamy also spoke to the girl’s parents and found that she was the family’s sole breadwinner.

Narayanasamy said he would get Vinothini a substantial aid from the Prime Minister’s relief fund, adding that he would contribute from his side as well. “I will request the PM to give her a substantial amount from the normally given aid as her treatment requires Rs 6 lakh. Depending on what the Prime Minister gives, I will also contribute from my side,” he said.

On November 14, Vinothini sustained severe burn injuries when a man threw acid on her, while she was walking towards a bus stand in Karaikal to catch a bus to Chennai , where she worked.
