Passengers protest over train delay

A group of passengers bound for Andhra Pradesh protested on the rail tracks at Arakkonam Junction Railway Station on Tuesday morning after they missed their connecting train.

A large number of people travel from Chennai to places in Andhra Pradesh such as Tirupathi and Puthur everyday. These passengers reach Arakkonam at 6.55 am by EMU train and then board an Arakonnam-Kadappa Passenger Train at 7 am. But on Tuesday, the EMU from Chennai was delayed and reached Arakkonam 15 minutes late. The Kadappa train had left by then, leaving the passengers stranded.

The angry passengers squatted on track in protest and were pacified by police. They boarded Chennai-Tirupathi Sapthagiri Express.
