A school bus driver was fatally knocked down by another vehicle of the same institution while moving it in the reverse near here on Wednesday.
Police said that the victim, N Chenkali Gounder (60), a resident of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Salem-Namakkal Road, had just parked the bus after bringing students to the school from different parts of the district. He was standing at the rear of another vehicle of the school.
Meanwhile, Subramani, driver of another bus, who was not aware that Chenkali was standing behind, moved his vehicle in the reverse and crushed the latter to death.
Namakkal police visited the spot and held inquiries. The body of the victim was taken to the Government Hospital, Namakkal for autopsy.
A case has been registered in connection with the death, police said.
