Around 100 persons, including some councillors of Ettikuttapati Panchayat in Omalur Panchayat Union, locked up the Panchayat President Subramaniyam. The protesters resorted to this action as they were not allegedly satisfied with the civic chief’s reply over an expenditure issue. Later, police came to the spot and rescued the civic chief.

The protesters locked up Subramaniyam inside a hall. On information, a police team and Deputy BDO Jegadesan, held talks with the protesters and persuaded them to give the key. Following assurances, they gave the keys back to the police.
