Counselling for admissions to veterinary colleges in the State will be conducted for two days on July 25 and 26, said TANUVAS Vice-Chancellor Dr R Prabakaran here on Saturday.

Speaking to mediapersons after attending a function held at the Veterinary College and Research Institute (VCRI) here, he  said that the rank list would be released on July 4 and the counselling dates had been fixed for July 25 and 26. The classes would begin on the second week of August, he added.

Dr Prabakaran informed that the number of seats available in veterinary colleges was  increased to 260 from 226 last year and the two new colleges set up in Tirunelveli and Orathanadu were awaiting the approval of the Veterinary Council of India. The VC noted that there was a huge demand for veterinarians in the State and the country as the number veterinarians graduating every year did not match the requirements.
