Despite spending 15 months in the Tihar jail, 2G spectrum scam accused A Raja on Friday claimed here that he suffered no big setback due to the scandal.

“I argued my case at the court which was full of journalists. What was my setback in the trial”, Raja asked reporters, claiming that he had to sacrifice only his personal liberty.

Despite no senior leader welcoming him at the airport, the scam-hit former telecom minister exuded confidence in the support offered by his party. “I am like the child in the womb of the DMK,” he said.

He claimed to have found solace in reading the memoirs of party chief M Karunanidhi in jail. “I utilised the time to read Nenjuku Neethi over and over. It gave me strength to go on with all aspects — moral, political and legal,” he said.

Karunanidhi received him with a garland at party headquarters Anna Arivalayam. Karunanidhi said his feeling was same as that of any other elder brother waiting to see his sibling after 15 months. However, he stopped short of blaming Congress  for the fiasco.
