MK Stalin, DMK treasurer and youth wing leader, was in Puducherry on Monday to select 115 party representatives for the youth wing of the party in 23 Assembly constituencies of Puducherry.

Speaking at the selection drive, he said the overwhelming response of cadres  was an indication of the DMK’s strong presence in the Union Territory.

He said that despite the party not being in power, there was much enthusiasm among youth  to work for the party. As many as 446 party workers attended interviews.

Though only 115 could be selected, he said that  others should not feel bad or think that they were ignored. He promised to accommodate them in other wings of the party, wherever possible. However, he stressed that those above 30 years would not be given representation in youth wing of the party.

Further, Stalin called upon the party cadre to work sincerely to being the party to power in the 2014 elections.DMK State convenor R V Jankiraman said it was regrettable  that there was no unity in the party and urged Stalin to do something in this regard.  He said earlier the party had contested and captured power here and won the Lok Sabha elections and also local body elections.
