Farmers protest land acquisition

Members of Paranji Ul Vattara Vivasayigal Nala Sangam in Arakkonam submitted a petition at the Ranipet Regional Divisional Office against acquiring their agricultural lands for SIPCOT (State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu), on Wednesday.

The officials had gone to their area for an inspection to identify land for SIPCOT in Arakkonam a week ago.

Following this, the farmers of 10 villages in Arakkonam, including Minnal, Guruvarajapettai, Perumalrajapettai, Paranji, Paravathur and Nandhimedu, submitted a petition to the PA to Ranipet RDO, Ravi, requesting not to mark their lands for SIPCOT as these lands were their only source of livelihood.

They had earlier submitted a petition to the District Collector Ajay Yadav in this regard.
