Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday presented certificates and cash prizes to students who had secured the top three ranks in the Tamil medium category in the Class XII and X examinations this year.
Twenty-four students collected cash prizes totaling Rs 4.9 lakh from the Chief Minister, along with certificates recognising their achievement. Apart from this, Jayalalithaa also presented the students with certificates guaranteeing that the State government would bear the cost of higher education for these students.
S Sushma and B Srinath, who topped the Tamil medium in Class XII and X respectively, received cash prizes of Rs 50,000 and 25,000 respectively. Three students, who secured the second rank in Class XII received Rs 30,000 each, while two third ranker holders received Rs 20,000 each. Six Class X second ranker holders received `20,000 each.
