Kalpakkam safety reviewed

A delegation of Parliament Standing Committee on Home Affairs headed by Rajya Sabha MP Venkaiah Naidu visited the Kalpakkam nuclear complex to review safety and security measures on Thursday.

Naidu told Express that the committee, which included BJP leader L K Advani, was briefed on safety measures at Kalpakkam and Koodankulam nuclear plants in the backdrop of the Fukushima disaster in Japan.

The panel will be briefed by state chief secretary Debendranath Sarangi on Friday about coastal security in Tamil Nadu in the wake of  the 26/11 attacks.
