Pondy students win French competition

Students of Artchouna Soupraya Naikar Government Middle School, Mudaliarpet, won the  first place in the 6th Make Science Competition held in France and several other European countries in collaboration with The University of Paris South 11, France, for their project entitled ‘The effect of Household Chemicals on Household Plants’. They won an award of 300 Euros, a release said.

 Students from Barathi GHSS, Bahour, with a project on vermiculture, GHSS, Karikalampakkam, with their project ‘Electricide of Mosquito Larvae’ and Arutchelvi Ayee Ammal Government Girls’ Middle School, Muthirayarpalayam, for their project on ‘Environmental Pollution caused by fire cracker chemicals during Deepavali Festival in India’ won a prize of 100 Euros each.      Government schools from Puducherry region of the UT have been participating in the Make Science competition since 2007.

 This is organised in Puducherry by the Pondicherry Science Forum in collaboration with the State Training Centre, Directorate of School Education. Puducherry is the only Indian Edition of this programme.

According to Raghunath Menon of Puducherry science forum, this year 12 projects were selected to compete at the finals of the programme.
