The extended four year tenure of Prof P Mannar Jawahar as Vice Chancellor of Anna University ended on Tuesday.
He was accorded a farewell at a function held on the university premises in the evening. However, the impasse over his successor continued with no decision taken yet on the university’s transition from a unitary institution to a pan-TN affiliating technical university.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that a three-member committee would be formed to take over the administration till clarity emerges on the merger of the five AUT with the parent university.
There were wild speculations that the three member convener’s committee t would comprise Director of Technical Education Ramesh Chand Meena, College of Engineering in Guindy Dean Prof Sekar and outgoing VC Mannar Jawahar.
Officials neither confirmed nor denied this. “We will take a quick decision,” was all that a senior official said.
