The Puducherry unit of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) on Wednesday held a demonstration in front of the Perunthalaivar Kamaraj Education Department complex seeking  scraping of regional reservation in admissions to professional courses. Under regional reservation 18 per cent of seats are allocated to students from Karaikal, 4 per cent to Mahe and 3 per cent to Yanam.

The regional reservation was unconstitutional and was depriving the meritorious students  from Puducherry region of securing admissions in professional institutions, they said.
