PUDUCHERRY: A B Tech student was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the  murder of a final year B Com student  from Bharathidasan government college for Women. According to police, Sindhuja (21)  was allegedly beaten to death by Rajkamal (24) at the Botanical Gardens here on Tuesday night.

Rajkamal of Thattanchavady was in love with Sindhuja (21) of the same area.  Sources said he had helped her in many ways including financially. However, when she disapproved of his romantic gestures, Rajkamal allegedly started harassing her. On  April 30  she complained to the D’Nagar police station, following which, they called both the parties and counselled them after working out a compromise.

As Sindhuja was having her semester examination, she went to the residence of her friend for a group study. When she was returning home last night, Rajkamal waylaid her and led her to the Botanical Garden. There they talked about their relationship which ultimately resulted in a quarrel between the two. During the fight, in a fit of anger, Rajkamal hit Sindhuja with a log killing her on the spot. He then smashed her face beyond recognition and surrendered before the Odiansalai police. The body was sent to the Indira Gandhi GGH for post-mortem.
