VELLORE: The district administration has exposed a scam where beneficiaries of the State’s free milch cows, goats and sheep scheme sold the animals.
The animal husbandry department has lodged a complaint against 101 beneficiaries of the scheme for selling the sheep that were given to them for their socio-economic development. 71 beneficiaries in Arimuthu Mottur village and 30 in Thamaraipakkam have been booked under section 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) of IPC. “After thorough investigation into the illegal sale of the free sheep, the department has decided to file criminal cases against the beneficiaries,” said Dr T P Rajendran, assistant director of Animal Husbandry, Ranipet.;
