RAMANATHAPURAM: Three bogies of the Ramewsaram-Chennai Express derailed at Rameswaram Station, while the train was being moved to the first platform on Monday.
According to sources, the scheduled departure time of the Rameswaram-Chennai Express from Rameswaram was 5 pm and the driver was moving the bogies from the pit line to the main line when the bogies got derailed.
The bogies were detached from the train and were later taken to the main line at Rameswaram.
Owing to the incident, the train was delayed by 45 minutes. Meanwhile, the Rameswaram-Madurai passenger train was also delayed by 45 minutes.
The train departed at 6.15 pm instead of the scheduled time of 5.30 pm.
