TIRUNELVELI: The Indian Space Research Organisation on Saturday succesfully tested the indigenous cryogenic engine at the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) at Mahendragiri for 200 seconds.

After the successful test, ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan told reporters that the engine would undergo another two tests, including endurance test of 1, 000 seconds and vaccum ignition test.  The engine would propel GSLV D-5 in September or October. The maiden flight test of the indigenous cryogenic stage onboard GSLV-D3 failed in May 2010 after it developed a snag.
