Farmer on revenge kills brother’s family

UDHAGAMANDALAM: Balachandran, a 46-year-old farmer, who murdered his elder brother Venugopal (55), Venugopal’s wife Sumathi (50), and their son Pradeep (15), at Sreemadurai village in Gudalur on Friday, was nabbed while he was in an unconscious state near Gudalur and admitted to the GH here on Saturday.

After committing the triple murder, Balachandran consumed poison on Friday night and informed one of his relatives that he had murdered the entire family of his elder brother, to take revenge for the recent killing of  his (Balachandan) family members.  He also informed that his body should be buried near the graves of his wife and children.

The police searched for Balachandran  throughout Friday night and found him lying in an unconscious state near Gunkermula school and admitted him to the Gudalur Government Hospital. Later, he was referred to the Ooty Government Hospital.

In January this year, Venugopal’s son Dhibu, 19, picked up an argument with Balachandran over a land dispute.

Later, Dhibu killed Balachandran’s  wife Amulu (40), her daughter Ramya (17) and son Vishnu (15).  

After this, Balachandran planned to take revenge on his elder brother’s  family.

Gudalur police have registered a case and are investigating.
