SALEM: In a tragic incident, a man who was trying to board a train in motion at Salem Junction on Saturday had a fatal slip and was killed in front of his children.
Duraiyan, a daily wage worker from Thamaiyanoor village in Valapadi taluk aged around 45 years, was to travel to Mumbai by the Kurla Express. His two sons Sathyamoorthy (14) and Sathyaraj (9) and his niece Malini (13) were to accompany him.
When the train entered the platform, Duraiyan scurried along with the crowd that tried to enter the unreserved compartment to get seats.Accidentally Duraiyan slipped and fell onto the track through the gap between the train’s footboard and the platform.
