PUDUCHERRY: Indian ambassador to the USA Nirupama Rao and former Chief Justice of India Justice MN Venkatchaliah would be awarded honorary doctorates by the Pondicherry University at its twenty-second convocation on May 19.

Rao would present the convocation address and distribute the degrees to graduates passing out of the university.

A total of 16,755 students would be awarded degrees during the convocation. This number includes 12,624 regular students. While 9,286 students would be receiving their bachelors degree, 2358 students will get masters degree, 308 students will get their M Phil, 85 their PhDs and 587 add-on PG Diplomas courses.

Union minister of state in the PMO V Narayanasamy, LG  Iqbal Singh and chief minister N Rangasamy will be present.
