VELLORE: Officials attached to the Vellore Unit of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Wednesday conducted a ‘super-check’ to measure the height of recently recruited drivers and conductors of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Villupuram Ltd, in Vellore Region.

They selected 100 transport staff randomly for the check.  The check was carried out following complaints that many persons who did not fulfil the criteria of 160 cm of height as per the stipulated rules, were recruited, a police officer of  DVAC wing said.

A panel of three doctors from  Government Vellore Medical College Hospital measured the persons, the officer informed. The reports would be sent to higher officials in Chennai, he said.
