ERODE: Unidentified persons entered a house at Kollampalayam on Friday night and decamped with 35 sovereigns of jewels and Rs 6000 in cash. According to sources Selvanayaki (45), wife of late Shanmugam of Kollampalayam and her friend Kanaga, wife of Ganesan of Madipakkam, Chennai, who had been to Coimbatore to attend a function, returned home late on Friday night and went to bed.
When they woke up on Saturday morning they were shocked to find that 35 sovereigns of jewels and Rs 6000 kept in the bureau was missing. Surampatti police visited the spot and held an inquiry. A sniffer dog was also brought to the crime scene. Further investigations are on.
