PUDUCHERRY: One person died while six others were injured after they were dragged several kilometres by a speeding lorry on the Puducherry-Villupuram highway Saturday evening.
The lorry, going towards Villupuram, rammed into an oncoming motorcyclist near Thirubuvanai, leading to the death of the motorcyclist, said Superintendent of Police (Traffic) N T Sivadasan.
After the collision, the lorry sped away dragging along six persons who got entangled in a rope that fell off the lorry due to the impact of the collision. The lorry was finally seized by the police after it crossed the border at Madagadipet.
The driver was arrested. One of the injured persons was critical, said Sivadasan.
They were taken to Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Post Graduate Institute, said the SP N T Sivadasan.
