RAMANATHAPURAM: The District Crime Branch police here have filed a case against a private finance company owner Marimuthu of Chennai and his agent Sorna Mariammal of Aruppukottai, for allegedly cheating a woman of `13 lakh, here.

Police said, Valivittal, wife of Santhanam of Mandalamanickam, near Kamuthi, allegedly fell prey to the private finance company in Chennai after reading their enticing advertisements.

She approached Sorna Mariammal, an agent for the private finance company, to deposit her savings believing that she would get high interest. Consequently, she deposited `13 lakh through banks on different dates in the private finance firm.

When the interest was not paid for months, she contacted the  company and demanded to return her money. But the company allegedly refused.

She then moved the Kamuthi court, which directed the District Crime Branch police to conduct an inquiry. However, no one has been arrested so far.
