VELLORE: AIADMK and DMK councillors on Wednesday clashed with each at the Aalangkuppam council meeting in Ambur,  regarding hanging of photographs of their leaders in the office.

Sometime back, Alangkuppam Panchayat had decided not to hang any leader’s photograph at the office and this was being followed for many years now. However, the current Panchayat President Dasaradakumar of ADML had reportedly hung Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s photograph at the office a few months back. Following this, DMK councillors also expressed their wish to hang their leader Karunanidhi’s photograph at the office.

DMK councillors reportedly hung Karunanidhi’s photograph at the office last week which Dasaradakumar allegedly removed after sometime and replaced it with CM’s photograph.

On Wednesday, at the council meeting, DMK councillors picked up a quarrel with AIADMK councillors and demanded that Karunanidhi’s picture be displayed at the office or else they would interrupt the council meeting.

Ambur Tahsildar K Vimala and Madhanur BDO Panneerselvam held talks with both the parties. It was concluded that a decision would be taken after consulting the district administration.

However, DMK councillors again hung up Karunanidhi’s  photograph at a different location in the office.
