COIMBATORE: A two-and-half-month-old leopard cub was found dead inside a well at an estate in Valparai.

The carcass was discovered by locals on Monday afternoon at the Lawson Division of Cinchona TANTEA Estate in Valparai.

According to Valparai Ranger S Arokiaraj Xavier, the cub might have fallen  into the well while trying to chase and kill a prey.

“As the big cats are generally nocturnal and elusive, they tend to hunt at night. This cub too would have chased a game at night and fallen into the well. It would have drowned while trying to make its way out of the well,” he said.

According to the autopsy performed by veterinarian Madhan, the cub should have fallen into the well around Sunday evening or late in the night.
