CHENNAI: Offering her deepest condolences to the family of Loganathan, a resident of Triplicane, who was killed after a police van ran him over, Chief Minister J Jayalalitha ordered a probe into the driver’s actions.

In a statement, the CM said that an official enquiry would be conducted to determine whether there was negligence on the part of the police driver as he reversed the van and killed Loganathan, who was sleeping under a tree at the Lady Willingdon College premises.

She also said that if he was found to be guilty, necessary action would be initiated against him. She announced a solatium of `1 lakh from the Chief Minister’s General Relief Fund for the deceased man’s family.
