The Express train was commuting between Kavanur and Virunjipuram railway stations, when unidentified persons hurled stones at the train.

Sources said that in the incident, glass windows of the engine were shattered and the assistant engine driver was injured.

The train arrived at the Jolarpet Railway Junction around 6.30 pm, where a supplementary engine was attached to the existing engine and the injured driver was replaced.

The train resumed its operation after a delay of half- an- hour. The Jolarpet Railway Police led by inspector Chelladurai and Railway Protection Force inspector Raju arrived on the scene. filed a case and an inquiry. Further investigation is on to identify the miscreants involved in the crime.
