Boy's death: Cops deny kin's murder theory

While the police were still clueless about the death of a ninth standard boy, whose body was found on the bed of Tamirabarani river on Sunday, the boy’s parents alleged that he was killed by people from the neighbouring village over a love affair.

Muthuganesh, of Poomangalam village near Athoor, went missing on January 17. His parents filed a complaint with Athoor Police. On Sunday, his body was recovered from the river bed. The boy’s parents alleged that their son was hacked by a gang from the neighbouring Narasanvilai village.

Kodivel, Muthuganesh’s father, said that his son was murdered by Jeyamperumal, an auto driver, and his associates for falling in love with a girl related to that man.

SP J Rajendiran, however, refuted Kodivel’s claim stating that there were no visible injuries on the Muthuganesh’s body.

He said that police suspected it to be a case of suicide. Thangaraj, Athoor police inspector, said that he had probed the love angle but could not find any clinching evidence.
