Trader rescued hours after kidnap, five held

A gang of five kidnapped a Rajasthani trader for ransom on Sunday night but landed in the police net barely hours later.

A gang of five kidnapped a Rajasthani trader for ransom on Sunday night but landed in the police net barely hours later.

Suresh Kumar, owner of a fancy wholesale shop at Veerapandiar Nagar, was returning from Kalparapatti on Sunday night. A call girl named Rani led him to a secluded place on the Oothukadu Road where the gang abducted him in a car.

Kumar’s anxious relatives contacted the police. The abductors threatened Kumar to ask his family to pay `60 lakh as ransom. Following negotiations, the gang agreed to a ransom of `7 lakh. Using mobile phone records, police released Suresh and nabbed Damodaran, Thirumalaivasan, Bhuvaneswari, Kumar and Saravanan.
