A jilted man killed his lover after she refused to marry him, in Dharmapuri on Monday. M Samraj (23) and M Sathiya (23) both from Mallapuram village, in Pennagaram taluk, had fallen in love in college. However, Sathiya’s parents were against the affair. Samraj, who went to Coimbatore to take up construction work, returned to the village to meet Sathiya when he heard that her parents were arranging her marriage. On Monday, he followed and confronted Sathiya. When she turned down his marriage offer, he attacked her with a sickle. Samraj was later arrested.
